The Real Greek's Vegan Menu Launch

This week I went along to the exciting launch of The Real Greek's new vegan menu at their restaurant in Soho. Prior to this night I couldn't even remember the last time I'd stepped into one of their restaurants and to be honest they haven't really been on my vegan radar, until now that is!

When I first saw the new menu I was quite blown away by just how many choices were on it! Thirty to be precise. It's clear The Real Greek haven't cut any corners when coming up with this menu which was created with love by their consultant chef, TV presenter and author Tonia Buxton. The menu pays homage to Greece's rich heritage of vegan cooking and the fresh ingredients found in Greek and Cypriot cuisine. It's also a really great fusion of traditional Greek dishes and some new inventive modern options too.

I've been to a few vegan launch nights this year and this one was really popular and very busy. It was also extremely well organised with a constant flow of food and drinks being bought round to everyone. There was also a beautiful display of some of the miniature taster dishes in the middle of the room which just looked stunning!

I think I managed to work my way around and try one of everything! Particular favourites of mine were the 'Spicy Red Pepper & Walnut Dip' which was so flavoursome and had a lovely warm kick to it. I also obviously loved the hummus and falafel, I mean what vegan doesn't right!? The 'Mousakka' was also a real favourite of mine with its layered courgette, aubergine and jackfruit.

One dish which really blew me away though, and which I haven't been able to stop thinking about  ever since, was the 'Souvlaki Wraps'. You have the choice of either 'Jackfruit Gyros' or 'Falafel' with these wraps but my personal favourite was the jackfruit, which surprised me a bit as I've not always loved jackfruit in the past. This wrap though was divine and the warm soft bread was so delicious.

And as if all of that wasn't enough there were even dessert options including this amazing 'Baklava' which I'd really recommend trying if you pay the restaurant a visit. I don't think I've ever left an event feeing so stuffed full of food. The Greek's certainly know how to throw a party that's for sure!

I also got to hang out again with fellow vegan blogging friend Jess from Simply Living Vegan and I got to meet the lovely Anjuli from Well Travelled Vegan. It's always so nice to see familiar faces at events like this and make new friends along the way. Aside from that we all really enjoyed the night and were super impressed with everything we got to try from the new menu. I for one can't wait to get myself back to their restaurant for a little feast up with my husband!

What do you think of The Real Greek's new vegan menu?
