Hello Autumn

There's a change in the air and I can almost smell the arrival of Autumn. It's a time of year I honestly feel myself craving and after the intense Summer we've had I am more than ready for it.

Wulf & Lamb | Vegan

It's another week, and another vegan burger making an appearance on this blog. What can I say? I  appear to have a growing obsession for trying all the vegan burgers London has to offer and I can't see it stopping anytime soon! This week I happened to be in Chelsea for a skincare event and it presented itself as the perfect opportunity to make a long overdue visit to Wulf & Lamb which has been on my hit list since January of this year. So yes, it's only taken me nine months to get myself there! I guess that's a testament to how spoilt for choice we are for vegan food in London right now.

South of France | Travel With Dogs

Last week my husband and I, and my Mum, and our combined 5 dogs, took a trip down to the South of France that I have wanted to do for such a long time. Ever since having dogs I’ve really wanted to take them on a trip abroad and France has always seemed like the perfect option.

My Month In Photos | August 2018

I'm going to be honest, August has felt like a really long drag of a month and I've been looking forward to it being over. That sounds quite dramatic and depressing, particularly when nothing bad has really happened, but lets just say it hasn't been my favourite time of this year. I've been really struggling with a low mood this month and it's felt like a big of struggle to motivate myself to do much. But then when I was getting the photos for this post ready it does in fact look like I've done quite a lot! However, I feel like a lot of time has been spent feeling bored and almost like I am just waiting for Autumn to arrive and for a fresh start.

Half Man Half Burger | Vegan

Until last week I'd never heard of Half Man! Half Burger! and I only happened to stumble across them after failing to find any vegan options whatsoever at the Eastbourne Air Show. The smell of burgers and hot dogs from all the food stalls there really gave me a craving for a good burger and after a quick search online I came across this place and the vegan menu looked exceedingly good.

A Night At The Malmaison Brighton | Travel With Dogs

It wouldn't be Summer without a little jaunt down to Brighton and it's something which has become a bit of a tradition for us this time of year. Having spent a few days at my Mum's in Eastbourne enjoying the air show weekend it made sense for us to extend our break away with an extra night in Brighton.

The Vurger Co. | Vegan

What's that I hear you say! Another vegan eatery in East London? Hell yes. The Vurger Co. opened their doors up this year and they're already proving to be a major hit with all the vegan foodies and bloggers. Their claim is that they are 'revolutionising fast food through the power of plants' which is basically just like music to my ears! I couldn't wait to get myself down there to find out what all the fuss is about.

My Tips For Fighting Depression

It's no secret that I've had my battles with low moods and depression and it's still something I find myself having to fight today. After a long period of tapering off the antidepressant I was taking (Venlafaxine), I have recently gone meds free for the first time in three years. It feels great to finally have that drug out of my system but, as I had expected, there has been an adjustment period where I have felt some side effects and my mood has dropped again.

The Invisible Rule Book For Vegans

When I first went vegan back in 2015 it all felt quite simple and straightforward. I knew that the choice I was making in changing my lifestyle so dramatically was first and foremost for the animals. My compassion for animals was the driving force for me originally going vegetarian and then later making the decision to go vegan.  I wasn't getting into it in a bid to become healthier, or as an attempt to help the environment, or any other reason. It was purely for the animals.

My Month In Photos | July 2018

July seems to have passed me by in one super hot and sticky heatwave, which for the most part I have spent complaining about! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a bit of sunshine and good weather but the continued and relentless heat really got to me to month. I did try to get out and make the most of it where I could and when I had the energy to but, and if I'm being honest, it's been a struggle! Thankfully as I'm putting together this post the heatwave is no more and I'm finally feeling a bit more like myself again. It's actually rained the last couple of days which has felt like such a relief. I don't think I've ever talked about the weather so much in my entire life!

Vegan Bloggers In Glasgow | Travel

We all know how much I enjoy travelling and exploring new places, especially when there are an abundance of vegan cafes and restaurants to try out too. Glasgow has been on my radar for quite a long time now as being a hotspot for vegans and as an ideal city break destination within the UK. It's also long been known as the vegan capital of the UK so it was only right I went to check it out! When I suggested a little foodie getaway to fellow vegan blogger friends Jess and Anjuli we all agreed it would make a fantastic trip and, as somewhere none of us had been before, we were excited by the prospect of a little adventure away!

Tropic Haircare | Vegan & Cruelty Free | AD

When I first heard that one of my favourite skincare brands, Tropic were bringing out a new hair care range I was so excited to see what they had come up with! Having always been so impressed with their skincare and body care products I was really keen to get my hands on the new hair care range and try it out for myself. I love trying out new hair care products as it's a part of my routine that I am often happy to change up regularly as I think my hair really benefits from using different products. I have quite fine hair which I colour fairly regularly so it is prone to feeling dry and dehydrated at times and I'm therefore always keen to find products which will help to really nourish and hydrate my hair and keep it looking healthy.

Hitchin Lavender

One place I knew I wanted to visit this Summer was Hitchin Lavender. I remember this time last year seeing so many gorgeous photos from other peoples visits and it really stuck itself in my mind as a great Summer's day out. Last Summer I was in the depths of moving house and that kind of took over, but this year life has thankfully slowed down and it's been so nice having time to explore and enjoy more of life's simple pleasures.

Lone Wolves Organics | Essex

Lately I feel like I spend so much time exploring what London has to offer on the vegan scene that I tend to forget about little old Essex where I live. I mean lets face it, London does have a LOT to offer and it also seems to be constantly changing and evolving with new openings and menu's each week which keeps me so busy. But that isn't to say that exciting things aren't happening out in the countryside too!

CIRCUS Vegan Menu Launch | Covent Garden

Last week I was invited along to cabaret restaurant Circus in Covent Garden for the launch of their brand new Vegan Tasting Menu. Prior to this invite I hadn't heard of this place before and I was quite excited by the prospect of an evening of entertainment in the heart of London's West End, and lots of vegan food of course! Having never been to a cabaret or performance restaurant before I had no idea what to expect but I was really looking forward to attending and doing something I wouldn't ordinarily do.

My Month In Photos | June 2018

Is it just me or are these 'My Month In Photos' posts just coming round so quick!? Time is absolutely whizzing by at the moment and I keep thinking that I can't believe we're already half way through 2018. It only feels like last week when I was sitting down to contemplate my new year goals for this year. Where is the time going!??? Anyway, I definitely think the busier you are the faster time goes and this month has felt extremely busy so it makes sense that it has flown by.

Spring & Summer Style Picks | Fashion

I very rarely, if ever, post any kind of fashion or style related posts because, if I'm being honest, it's not really my area of expertise! I have however really enjoyed shopping for Spring and Summer this year and in particular my holidays. I think as plant prints seem to be hugely popular in 2018 I've been drawn to quite a few different pieces and well lets just say that I'm really feeling this look!

Mykonos | Travel

Ever since we visited Santorini last Summer I had been thinking about going to visit the island of Mykonos as so many people recommended it as an equally amazing, if not better, holiday destination.   Last week we were lucky enough to spend a week on this beautiful island and I wanted to put together all of the highlights in one place and offer up some good recommendations for places to see, things to do and where you can find decent vegan food.

Kew Gardens | Plants

A couple of weeks ago I took my Mum to Kew Gardens for a day out for her birthday. Neither of us had ever been to Kew before (aside from the Christmas Lights show) and I was so looking forward to exploring the gardens in the sunshine and looking at all the plants on display. As my obsession with house plants grows so does my enthusiasm for getting out and about and seeing plant displays, from garden centres to flower markets, and even just other peoples photos on Instagram - I'm hooked!

I've already posted a Prepping My Skin For Summer post which includes some essential tips for ensuring your skin is in tip top condition for sun exposure. Growing My Own Vegetables | Lifestyle

At the start of this year, and when I was thinking about some goals for the year ahead, I knew that I wanted to try my hand at growing my own vegetables. This is something I've thought about for quite a while but as a complete novice I didn't really know where to start. This meant lots of research and thinking about how and where I wanted to grow them in my garden.

Broadway Vegan Market | London

The last time I'd been to Broadway Market was around three years ago and before their separate Vegan Market even existed. I remember back then it was still really good for vegan food and for a long time now I have been really keen to make a return visit to check out this new addition spin off market. Last weekend presented the perfect sunny Saturday with no plans, so off we went in search of vegan comfort food!

Petersham Nurseries | Plants

It's no surprise to any of my regular readers and followers that one of my favourite past times is browsing garden centres and plant shops. My house plant collection is now at around the fifty mark which is a real testament to my ever growing passion for plants! When I have a little more time on my hands I really enjoy venturing off to new plant shops further afield and one place which has been on my 'to see' list for quite a while now is Petersham Nurseries in Richmond, London. Thankfully the May Bank Holiday Monday presented itself as the perfect day to go off exploring with my camera.

My Month In Photos | May 2018

May has felt like a really great month, probably helped along by the fact that we left the country for a few days and we've seen a tremendous amount of sunshine in the UK too. It's been a nice level busy, without feeling too crazy, and it's really got me in the mood for Summer.

Deliciously Free From 'Free Shakes' With Sainsbury's

Last week I was invited along to Sainsbury's HQ and their Food Innovation Centre in London to take part in their #DeliciouslyFreeFrom Iced Desserts 'FreeShake' Masterclass. When this invite popped into my inbox I was really excited because not only was I yet to try their new vegan friendly Iced Desserts, but also because this event just sounded like so much fun! I've also surprisingly never enjoyed a vegan 'Freak Shake' before so I was really looking forward to learning how to make my own.

Last weekend I was enjoying a little shopping trip at Westfield Stratford when I came across the Doughnut Time van outside on 'The Street' section of the shopping centre. All Day Brunch | Vegan

The arrival of the weekend always signals that it's time for an all day brunch in our house but this is a meal which can be enjoyed on any day and at any time of the week. In fact it also happens to be one of my favourite easy dinners to knock up after a long day. It's the ultimate in vegan comfort food!

Mushroom Bolognese | Vegan

Pasta is a staple in our house and rarely a week goes by when we're not enjoying it! More often than not I'm happy to eat it with a simple tinned passata and some chopped mushrooms but if we have the time then we also really like making a vegan take on a bolognese. This is another dish that we always make more of so that we can enjoy it again on a jacket potato another night.

Tofu & Vegetable Stir Fry | Vegan

Stir fry's are one of my favourite meals to enjoy at home because they're just so quick and easy and they're a great way of packing in loads of vegetables into your diet. You can really mix this up to suit your tastes and add in whatever vegetables you fancy, there really aren't any rules! I tend to buy the ready to eat Cauldron tofu pieces because I still haven't perfected the cooking of tofu myself and I just find that this is the easiest way for me to enjoy a quick stir fry with minimal hassle. But again you may wish to add whatever tofu you prefer!

Mixed Bean Chilli | Vegan

Today I'm sharing another favourite regular meal in our house, the mixed bean chilli! I just love how versatile this dish is and that you can enjoy it in a number of different ways - either with rice, on top of a jacket or even in tacos. Despite the fact there are only two of us living in my house we always make enough for four people as then we can enjoy it again another night or for a lunch the next day.

Postcards From Ibiza | Travel

Last week my husband and I jetted off for a blissful few days in Ibiza for our five year wedding anniversary. We actually got married in Ibiza and decided to return back to our venue for our stay - luxury boutique hotel Agroturismo Atzaro. We hadn't been back there since our wedding day so it really did feel so special to be staying there again and reliving all of the special memories we made there.

Cauliflower, Chickpea & Potato Curry | Vegan

Homemade curries are my absolute favourite and they always make a regular appearance on our weekly food plan. They're so easy to cook from scratch and make a very balanced and healthy meal. I always like to load my curries with chickpeas to ensure that we're getting that all important protein and the combination of them with potatoes and cauliflower is just so delicious! To be honest though  you can load this curry up with whatever vegetables take your fancy and I always find that making a curry is an excellent way of using up a number of different vegetables from your fridge.

My Month In Photos | April 2018

How are we already heading into May? This year has suddenly started to steam roll away but I'm certainly not complaining because the arrival of sunshine and Spring blossom has really raised my spirits this month! April has been another busy month for me and I'm not going to lie, it's also been pretty stressful at times. I've struggled a bit with my health which has meant that I haven't been feeling that great but I'm glad that, for the most part, I've managed to stick my plans and enjoy life a little too.

Byron Vegan Menu Launch

Last week I attended the launch event for Byron's new vegan and vegetarian menu options which are launched in all of their UK restaurants today. Prior to attending this event I can't recall a time I ever visited a Byron restaurant and that's probably because they never had a vegan burger option on their menu, until now that is! It does seem that Byron are quite late to the vegan party in offering us up some decent options, but we all know that it's better to be late than never show up at all.

Prepping My Skin For Summer | Vegan & Cruelty Free

Is it too early to start talking and thinking about Summer!? Well if our Spring weather is anything to go by then yes it probably is! But if we're talking about prepping our skin for the Summer then no, not at all. Now is most definitely the time to start thinking about your Summer skincare routine. And, if like me, you have holidays planned to hotter destinations then you'll really want to consider how best to prep your skin for the exposure to sunshine. Remember the sun!? That big, bright, hot and yellow thing in the sky!? It seems like a distant memory doesn't it.

Anyway, the only thing getting me through this Spring is knowing that I have a couple of trips coming up, one to Ibiza in May and another one to Mykonos in June, and I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to basking in the heat and hopefully getting a little tan along the way. And one way I like to ensure that my skin is in perfect condition for gaining a long lasting tan is by exfoliating regularly.

Tropic Body Smooth Refreshing Polish

I was recently sent this gorgeous tub of body polish from Tropic and it really couldn't have arrived at a better time. In fact it was the arrival of this that got me started on my Summer skincare prep and thinking more about how I want to take care of my skin this Summer.

This body polish is an amazing blend of citrusy essential oils, rich sea salts and pure plant extracts. I've started to use it around three to four times a week and I find it so easy to use and fit into my routine. I simply take a small handful and rub all over my body directly onto dry skin before getting into the shower in the morning. Once I am in the shower the scrub rinses away leaving behind the essential oils on my skin, which I then massage in to ensure that all important post scrub moisturisation.

I have been blown away by how well this body polish is working for me and the fact that it has added moisturising properties is just perfect. If I'm feeling a little on the lazy side and unable to give myself a full body moisturise after my shower then it's not a problem because the essential oils in this product have already done the hard work! My skin has felt the softest and smoothest it has felt in a long time and it's been so effective at working away all my dry skin patches.

Aside from all of that, how cute is the packaging? I adore the glass jar container that it comes in and the little wooden spoon makes a really cute but useful additional touch.

Now, if I'm not feeling lazy and I have some time to spend on a full body moisturising session, then maybe about once a week I take the time to give my skin an extra dose of hydration. Its definitely not something I'd have the time to faff around with every day but it is something I enjoy as a little home pampering when I can just lay on my bed and wait for the moisture to soak in without rushing things.

Hempz Original Herbal Body Moisturizer

I tend to mix up my body moisturisers quite often and I can't really say I have an all time favourite go to product at the moment, but one that I am really liking lately is this Original Herbal Body Moisturizer by Hempz. First off it smells gorgeous and has a really summery scent to it which they refer to as 'floral and banana'. But for anyone who hates bananas, don't worry it doesn't really strike me as banana smelling, instead more of a tropical vibe.

The combination of shea butter and ginseng really help to calm and soothe and, as its name would suggest, this product is enriched with 100% hemp seed oil.

I have fallen in love with this moisturiser because it is just so light and applies like a dream. It also has absolutely no after stickiness or residue which is always a big bug bare of mine when it comes to body creams. You'll have no issue in putting on all of your clothes after using this!

Dermalogica Multivitamin Thermofoliant

As well as exfoliating your body, I also think it's really important to regularly exfoliate your face for a deeper clean and to ensure your skin looks bright and free from dry patches. You may have seen that I recently invested in quite a few products from the Dermalogica range in a bid to target some problematic areas on my face. One product which has really stood out to me has been their Multivitamin Thermofoliant which I honestly don't think I could live without now.

I use this exfoliator probably around four times a week on my face and when I am cleansing my skin in the morning in the shower. Not only has this really helped to tackle some spotty areas I've been struggling with, but my face has seriously never felt so bright and smooth. It has been a dream come true, especially during the cold months when my face has really needed a little extra boost.

This is a great all year round product and one I shall continue to use but I am especially glad I have started with it in the lead up to the Summer because I know it will help my face to achieve a lovely sun kissed look with zero dry patches when I am on holiday.

Foot Pumicing

One thing I always notice once we come out of the colder months, and when I find myself reaching for flip flops again, is that my feet usually have a build up of dead skin. It sounds gross, and well it is really, but I am sure it is something that we all suffer with. To be honest I only really start to take note of my feet again when I am ready to ditch the socks and have them on display again.

I always find that pumicing my feet post shower or bath is the perfect time to really make a dent in the dead skin as it comes away with such ease. This is something I've been trying to do at least twice a week lately to ensure that my feet are looking pretty for the Summer.

True Vit Pure Boitin Supplement

Finally, the last thing that I am doing to help my skin feeling and looking good is taking a supplement. I've been using the True Vit Pure Biotin supplement recently which is designed to help  your hair, skin and nails all look and feel healthier. I'm not sure yet if they will make any difference but I'm giving them a go!

What do you do to prep your skin for the Summer?

Where I Buy My House Plants | Interiors

It's no secret that I love my house plants and I especially love spending time browsing plant shops and garden centres, even if i'm not buying anything. Opening my own plant shop is a little dream I have in my head and something I quite like to fantasise about quite a lot lately! Anyway, for those of you who are a little plant obsessed like myself I thought it would be handy to write about some of my favourite places to go plant shopping.
