Wild Thing Bars

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a snack-a-holic and instead of eating three main meals a day I tend to just graze on small things throughout the day. I think that this generally works better for me and my metabolism. Consequently my food cupboard is always stocked up with different nuts, bars and nibbles and i'm always on the look out for new snacks when I go shopping.

I was recently contacted and asked if I would like to review some new vegan paleo bars from Wild Thing and I jumped at the chance because not only are they a new brand to me, but also because of my snack addiction!

My main focus with my own diet is to maintain a vegan lifestyle and I have to admit that I don't usually pay a lot of attention to other things such as paleo. That being said, I am always impressed when I am presented with a vegan product which also ticks boxes for a number of other dietary requirements. Wild Thing bars do just that and boast that they are not only vegan but also 100% organic, paleo, gluten free and raw.

Again, I will hold my hands up and confess that sometimes I am actually put off a product if it claims to be too many things because I automatically think that it's not going to taste very nice. After all if I am not concerned with eating gluten free or raw then why would I choose to eat anything that is? Sometimes it can be difficult eating vegan so I don't like to limit myself to anything more than that.

As always though I am open to trying new things and I also know that many of my followers choose to lead a raw vegan or gluten free vegan diet so I am sure that these are products that will really be of interest to you all.

Firstly i'll fill you in on some facts about Wild Thing bars. I've already stated above some of the dietry benefits but it's also worth mentioning that all of these bars are low in saturated fat and under 140 calories which makes them a pretty good option for your waistline too. The price of the bars seems to vary depending on where you're shopping but they range anywhere between 99p - £1.60 per 30g bar, which I think is pretty reasonable for a snack of this size.

Here's my results of the all important taste test!

Nuts & Seeds

As expected, this bar is really nutty! It contains cashews, almonds, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds along with dates which makes it a delightful combination of crunchy and chewy. The main thing I noticed about this bar is just how filling it is. Although it may look fairy small it's really going to fill you up so it's perfect to get you through that long post lunch afternoon before dinner time.

Cacao & Almond

Now this one really appealed to me because it's so chocolatey! I have a real sweet tooth and regularly find myself craving some chocolate so this is a great healthy alternative for when those cravings strike. It's rich, flavoursome and delicious. And until I tried the coconut one it was my favourite!

Coconut & Chia

I really felt like i'd died and gone to heaven when I tasted the coconut & chia bar! It knocked the chocolate one off my top spot which even surprised me. It might not be for everyones taste as it is very coconutty but I loved it. It also doesn't compare to any other vegan snack i've tried in the past.

Berries & Seeds

Out of all the flavours the berries one was probably my least favourite but that's purely down to personal taste as it's just too sweet and fruity for me. Personally I tend to go for more chocolate and nutty flavours but this was in fact my husband's favourite so it just goes to show how different we all are. He was also pretty happy as he didn't have to share it with me! This bar really is bursting with different berries including cranberries, mulberries, blueberries, goji berries and acai berry powder.

On the whole I've been really impressed by Wild Thing bars. I had some initial pre-conceptions that they would taste the same as the well know Nak'd bars, however they really proved me wrong. Ok, in principal they are relatively similar in that the predominant ingredient fusing all the other ingredients together is organic dates. But, one thing that Wild Thing bars do is bring some of the key ingredients more to life by keeping them in their original form. By that I mean that you can visibly see some of the nuts, seeds and berries within the bars which, in my opinion, makes the overall taste so much better. It's great to eat a healthy bar like this and actually be able to crunch on some nuts and chew some berries too.

I'd definitely recommend giving these bars a try! Check out the Wild Thing stockists to find out where you can buy them from.

Have you tried Wild Thing bars before? What did you think? I'd love to hear!
